The Start-Up Process

Planning

You'll meet with a Proper Renos team member to discuss your vision. From there, we will develop a floorplan for you to review and solidify your quote.

Approval

Upon your approval, we'll review the estimate, floorplan, and schedule together to confirm project details and make any necessary changes before development begins.

Updates

We'll provide progress updates regularly once your renovation has begun. Keeping you informed will ease anxiety about unforeseen circumstances and allow you to confirm any unfinalized selections.

Tips
  • Don't delay! The timely selection of materials, like flooring or tiles, ensures your project stays on schedule. Confirm your preferences within the specified timeframes to avoid setbacks.

  • Be curious! We believe in transparency and will keep you informed on progress, but if you have questions, ask us for answers. Addressing issues as they arise makes finding solutions much easier for everyone.

The Build

This involves obtaining permits, establishing site rules, hoarding, material delivery, and preparing your home to protect it from damage during construction.

Pre-Construction

This involves obtaining permits, establishing site rules, hoarding, material delivery, and preparing your home to protect it from damage during construction.

Construction

How this flows will depend on what you're renovating, but you can expect this stage to involve framing, electrical and plumbing rough-in, drywalling, ceiling application, windows and doors, baseboards and trim, and painting. You'll do several walk-throughs during this stage, and any necessary city inspections will occur here before the construction phase is considered complete.

Final Touches

This is where we install flooring, tile, lighting, switches and plugs. Wet room fixtures and cabinetry are positioned and mounted. Additional coats of paint and last-minute touch-ups are applied. A professional deep clean and final walk-through with you will conclude your renovation.

Tips
  • Be prepared! Removing furniture, decor, and personal items from construction areas (or paths to them) will allow our team to navigate with ease and keep your property safe.

  • Be mindful! While renovations are underway, consider alternative parking arrangements. We'll make every effort to work around you and your lifestyle

  • Be a good neighbour! Job sites can be loud and busy, and while we know you'll be excited about our presence, your neighbours might not be. A quick heads-up about your renovation and projected timeline can help keep things neighbourly.
